Journey to a low carbon economy

Our golf course is a wonderful green space and has incredibly diverse nature and ecology. At Ruthin Pwllglas Golf Club we are committed to lowering our carbon emissions and playing our part in the sustainability of our planet. We have 13kW of solar power, which generates most of the electric we require for the club’s needs. In the days when we are generating more than we use, we sell our excess power back to the grid helping provide others across our region with green electricity. We have installed two vehicle charging points, there to provide convenient charging of our members and visitors’ cars at excellent rates. Today most vehicles on our roads are still petrol or diesel powered, but in the next decade this will change, and we are ready to provide this charging facility to our members and visitors. We have also installed a water bore hole to provide us with the water we use to irrigate our greens from a sustainable source rather than using precious drinking water.

Many countries, governments and companies internationally, regionally, and locally are targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2050. At RPGC we are well on the way and aim to achieve this much sooner. We will continue to look at affordable renewable projects to achieve this.

helped fund our sustainability projects.
