Saturday the 13th July was Garry Teesons’ Captains day at the club. Over 100 members and guests took part in the competition with Joshua Duckworth winning the overall competition with a score of 40 points, beating Alan Padmore by one point. Phil Terzo was one of seven players who scored 37 points but he took third place with the best back nine.

Competition results week ending 7th July 2024
Gordon Mckie returned a cracking score of 61 nett in the weekend competition to take the Rover Cup. Tudor Foulkes won division one bringing in a nett 63 with Ian Lewis in second place and Graham Hardinges in third. Idris Roberts won division 2 with a nett 64 with Mike Whear in second and Ray Kennedy in third.
The Dorothy Wilson Jones par cup was won by Liz price who was four up on the course in this bogey competition. Captain Ann Ellis Davies came in second with Catherine Parton in third.
Four players scored 28 points this week in the Summer League with Kim Webb winning from John Nickson in second and Delyth Edwards in third place with Arfon Thomas just missing out on the prizes. It is very tight at the top of the leaderboard with Mike Halsall and Oliver Gray swopping positions in first place and John Nixon coming into the picture in third place.
Gwion Richards, who only joined the golf club eight weeks ago, achieved what many fail to do in a lifetime of playing golf and had a hole in one on the 18th hole on Sunday afternoon.

Competition results week ending 30th June 2024
Fifty eight played for the D P Lloyd Davies trophy over the weekend with junior Ben Jellicoe just beating Ian Lewis on the back nine with an excellent score of 41 points. Ian Lewis won division 1 with Dylan Jones second and Gwyn Jones third. Vice-Captain Dei Hughes won division 2 with Phil Corbett second and Aled Lewis third.
Catherine Parton, Sue Roberts and Liz Price were all in outstanding form last week in the mid-week GUW medal and Challenge Bowl. Catherine Parton was the winner scoring an excellent 65 net with Sue Roberts second and Liz Price third.
Linda Cooledge showed the men how to play golf last week in week 6 of the Summer League, carding a brilliant 34 points in the thirteen-hole stableford competition. Oliver Grey came in second with 31 points with John Vaughan taking third place with 29 points. It is very tight at the top of the leaderboard with Oliver Grey in first place, one point ahead of Mike Halsall with Captain Garry Teeson in third place.
The Junior Captain Cup competition was held last week for the first time in many years and was won by Aled Lewis with Liam Dewi Williams second and Cian Williams third. Kim Webb and his team have worked hard developing the junior section and now have over 30 taking part in junior lessons – if you are interested in junior lessons, please contact Kim on 07786007251.
